The GRAMMY Award–winning Pacific Boychoir Academy is the only boys choir school west of the Mississippi. We are a secular choir that provides boys with world-class musical training and performance opportunities that come once in a lifetime.

Discover Music Education in Oakland’s World-Renowned Children’s Choir
Each season, we serve over 75 choristers, ages 4 -17, in our day school and after-school programs. Many boys sing with our choir for years — from elementary school through high school — which is reflected in their music-reading skills, exceptional vocal quality and lifelong friendships.
Here We Come, Middle Earth!
The SF Symphony has selected Pacific Boychoir to accompany their 2024 presentation of Lord of the Rings. Our boys will sing the vocal score as the symphony performs live accompaniment to screenings of the film!
This year’s day-school curriculum reflects the excitement! Our elementary and middle school students be studying Tolkien, dissecting “Elvish” in Language Arts, and practicing geometry with maps of Middle Earth!

Grow in a Choir and Music Program that Extends from Pre-K through High School
After School Choirs
PBA offers five different choral ensembles for boys ages 4-17. Placement is dependant on choristers’ age and experience. After School choirs rehearse one afternoon per week for 1-3 hours.
Day School Troubadors
Our day school boys receive 2.5 hours of daily musical study, in addition to PBA’s challenging “Best for Boys” academic curriculum at our elementary and middle shools in Oakland, CA.
Camps & Retreats
PBA offers camps and retreats for intensive rehearsal and music study. Choristers sing, eat, hike, and spend quality time together — and make significant musical progress.
Bay Area Performances
Our choirs perform and local civic and corporate events, including professional sports games, faith-based events, private gatherings, and schools.
Travel & Tours
During summer, after-school choristers in grades 4-8 travel within California for a domestic tour. Troubadors and high school choristers tour internationally for 10-12 days — past international tour destinations include Spain, China, Ecuador and Ireland.

Opportunites to sing with PBA are available to every boy who is willing to put in the effort, regardless of previous musical experience or perceived talent.

Begin the Journey with Our After-School Choirs
Our after-school program develops young singers, ages 4-17, through weekly vocal training and music-theory classes. PBA has five after-school choral ensembles, with choristers’ membership determined according to age and skill level.
After School choirs perform several times throughout the year, which gives choristers the opportunities to demonstrate their hard work and growing musicianship.
This is the most polite group of elementary and middle school boys you will ever meet — that doesn’t mean they’re perfect angels, of course! But they are encouraged and taught to be kind to each other, to take care of and mentor the younger boys, and to work together for the best singing and experience they can have.

Integrate Music with Academics at our Elementary and Middle Day School
PBA combines music instruction and academics at our day school for boys grades 3-8.
We offer small class sizes that provide for individualized instruction, varied learning approaches, and PBA’s “Best for Boys” learning approach for elementary and middle school education.
PBA’s student-teacher ratio is 1:5, with classes capped at 10 students per grade.

Many of our boys sing together all the way through high school. They develop Many programs claim to prepare students for the real world — we take them there! Music allows our boys to become local amabassdors and global citizens with performances in our community and on the world stage.
